No Borders, No Nations

As a collective, we have decided to cancel Pöbel MC’s performance at No Borders No Nations.
The reason for this is allegations of inappropriate behavior and overstepping Boundaries that have been brought to our attention and that constitute clear violations of our manifesto. After intensive discussions, we have come to the conclusion that we do not wish to provide a platform for people against whom such allegations have been made.
For us, this decision is a matter of principle. We want to take reports of Misbehavior seriously and create spaces where people feel as safe as possible. Where such allegations exist, we do not want to look away or downplay them.
We do not view the cancellation of the concert as a permanent “cancellation” of a person. Rather, we hope for a serious examination of the allegations and a thorough addressing of them. Taking responsibility and facing consequences do not preclude the possibility of change. Inappropriate behavior—especially toward FLINTA individuals—is still far too often downplayed or goes unpunished. We do not wish to be complicit in that.
Instead, we want to contribute to a culture in which those affected are taken seriously, violence is named, and accountability is demanded.

We stand in solidarity with all those affected and thank the people who have the courage to speak out about assaults and thereby bring greater visibility to the issue.
